I’ve been looking for a way to entice my “Mr
15” year old son to ditch his seduction of mainstream
cereals and try oats. Of course like most kids he has a sweet tooth
which is hard to crack and although he does not have much sugar on a daily
basis, he is a cereal person, so I was inspired to create something
healthy.
Needless to say he became my inspiration
and initial taste tester along with my local friends, family and foodies. After
a bit of tweaking, I think we have come up with a winner that might solve some
breakfast or safe snack issues in your household. Please don’t be shy any feedback is
good.
See you get to try out our new blends first
here at GFOats.com.au and if it pasts your favourable test we will look at
taking it to market later this year.
Let’s
Break it down:
As we are in testing stage, I have not got
a nutritional panel.
So having a look at the ingredients we have
of course the Traditional GF Oats, Cocoa
powder, Coconut Sugar, Sunflower seeds, Cinnamon and Chocolate chips.
Cocoa is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. The process keeps
the living enzymes in the cocoa and removes the fat.
Some of the fabulous health benefits of
this ingredients are Lowers insulin resistance, shields nerve cells, reduces
blood pressure, is a fabulous source of antioxidants, protecting us from free
radical toxins. Rich in magnesium, iron, potassium, calcium, zinc, copper and
manganese.
Coconut
Sugar is a great tasting, mineral rich, low GI (35)
cane sugar alternative, produced from coconut palm blossoms. Coconut Sugar is naturally low on the Glycemic
Index (GI), with a rating of 35. Low GI ratings allow for a slow release of
energy, efficiently fuelling your day-to-day activities and avoiding the
“highs” and “lows” associated with most commercial sugars. Many people with a
sensitivity for Fructose have found Coconut Sugar to be beneficial since it is
primarily Sucrose based (up to 89% depending on the crop).
Sunflowers
Seeds are one of my favourite seeds. Having been a farmers daughter, we used to
grow sunflowers commercially, so they bring back lovely memories of childhood.
However these sweet, nutty
sunflower seeds are an excellent source of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and
minerals.
Cinnamon: Some of the most
impressive health benefits of cinnamon include its ability to help manage
diabetes, protect against fungal and bacterial infections, increase brain
function, prevent certain cognitive disorders, improve digestion, boost the
strength of the immune system.
Chocolate
Chips from Sweet William : These chocolate chips are dairy free and
gluten free and taste super delicious.
It is a simple blend yet the balance
between the cocoa and the sugar was the difficult one to get so that it was
sweet enough to offset the bitter taste of the cocoa.
We thought seeing it was close to Easter
and everyone is in the chocolate spirit this might be a great time to introduce
you to this muesli blend.
Pop over to the shop and grab yourself some of our Chocolate Muesli, we hope you enjoy and as part of our launch we would
love your feedback and in return you will go into a draw to win a 4 pack of the
Muesli drawn at the end of April.
